The Music and Planet Project

The Music and Planet Project is overjoyed to have had the support of Derringer Discoveries: A Music Adventure Podcast for this year’s Conserving Our Future Fundraiser. A podcast that takes listeners through the stories of artists both established and emerging from all corners of the globe, Derringer Discoveries is an internationally followed and locally loved podcast based out of Virginia. Led by the humorous, insightful, and fun-loving Paul, Alton, and Laura (all of whom are unrelated but assume the common last name Derringer when hosting the show), the podcast launched in 2020 and has aired a whopping 92 episodes in just 5 years of existence!

One of our favorite aspects of the show is its unique format. The Derringers bring on artists from around the globe who typically speak about their own music as well as that of an artist who influenced them. By exploring music-makers from this duel perspective – as both the artist and the fan of another act – the podcast achieves two objectives: it exposes audiences to lesser known acts and tells the fascinating stories of their musical idols from the viewpoint of a superfan.
