Fresh off the release of What If It All Works Out?, Indigo Daydream is going all out on positivity in his latest track “Be The Sunshine”. Characterized by the artist’s signature ambient and echoey sonic landscapes, Be The Sunshine complements the previous song release but also takes a slightly more free-flowing approach, a style fitting for music about inspiring kindness and positive action.
While the previous song, What If It All Works Out, took on a little more of a direct rock and roll sound (which we loved), Be The Sunshine feels a little like a return to the lush and ambient style we’ve come to also love from Indigo Daydream. In Be The Sunshine, the tempo is a little slower, and the beat has more of an open, expansive feel to it than the beat in What If It All Works Out, in which Indigo introduced tight, tom-thrashing drums right from the start. If anything, the differences between these two songs demonstrates the versatility of the artist, who continues to explore and build on his signature atmospheric rock style.
From the point of view of tone, Be The Sunshine’s verses are characterized by fuzzy guitars and somber vocals that usher us into a hazy mood. But the haze does not last long and is quickly eclipsed by the uplifting tone of the choruses, which itself feel like an embodiment of the rising of the sun’s rays. Weaving together multi-layered background harmonies, reverb guitars, and melodies that envelope us, Indigo creates a soundscape that is wide and expansive, emulating the massiveness of a rising sun.
The last thing to note here about Be The Sunshine is that there’s more to the song than the song itself. In fact, Be The Sunshine is the inspiration for a new short film created by the artist that will debut on Saturday, October 5th as part of the Green Music Program Planting for the Future Livestream. Find out more about this tree-planting fundraiser concert and sign up to attend here. In the meantime, listen to Be the Sunshine on Spotify or wherever you listen to music and check out the rest of Indigo Daydream’s catalog while you’re at it.
