EP 2, Two Moons Under

To put it plain terms, EP 2 by Two Moons Under is an epic explosion of emotion and creativity. Through the use of gripping effects, instrumental experimentation, and raw lyricism, Jamie Green, the solo artist behind the music, takes us deep into his psyche and personal experience in a way that feels both authentic and exciting.

The EP kicks off with the appropriately-named How it Starts, a short but sweet introduction to the cathartic, emotive sound. Hooking us in with an intricate strumming pattern, Green quickly opens up the track with explosive crash cymbals, distorted guitars, and high-end synths. Somewhat surprisingly, the track concludes in under two minutes but seamlessly transitions into the next song, Light the Fuse. Similar to the first track, this one bounces back and forth between sections of meticulous guitar riffs and an open, expansive chorus. What sets this song apart is its truly innovative bridge, which introduces an arpeggiated synth, an airy wash of reverb, and guitar riffs that all complement each other in the build toward the last chorus. By the time we reach that chorus, we are ready for a true release of energy, which Green delivers with a thick fuzzy bass and big drums. The track closes out in a Foals-esque manner with synchronized drum and guitar thrashings. When the track ends, the listener has to pause and take a gulp of water to cool down from the exhilarating ride we’ve been taken on.

Track 3, All I See is You, is the final song of the EP, and Green takes things in a fully acoustic direction. As with the other tracks, careful guitar picking ushers us into the sonic landscape. As the song develops, Green’s vocals are more exposed than in the other tracks, and he really showcases the richness of his voice more fully here. The track concludes with a splash of electronic pad sounds that are a nice touch and serve as another sign of the artist’s creativity.

Overall, Two Moons Under’s EP 2 is a highly creative project that rings clear with a sense of authenticity, heavy emotion, and artistic detail. We’re excited to continue to watch this artist develop and seek new pathways in their sound.
