Nine Lives, Gabrielle Ornate

Gabrielle Ornate is back with her signature brand of heavy-hitting alt rock, this time with a touch more of a celebratory flavor. Nine Lives, the latest single from Ornate, is written in a major key, a divergence for the artist, who often explores darker melodies.

And rather than build up to it, as is common in some of her other tracks, Gabrielle starts Nine Lives with the main melody in full swing, immediately immersing the listener in the jubilant mood of the song. From the beginning, we are greeted with the essence of this powerful party anthem.

Despite turning toward a major key in this song, the key elements of what distinguishes Ornate as an artist are still present in Nine Lives: the thick drum beats, the intricate, effects-laden guitar riffs, and the sense of empowerment and freedom embodied in the vocals. At certain moments, such as in the choruses, these defining traits are even more impactful in this newest track. Part of this is due to the more muted tones of the verses and bridge that allow the choruses to stand out more sharply. These more subtle parts of the song set the stage well for the cathartic release of the refrain.

Again, Ornate has built on her sound while maintaining the essential elements that mark her musical brand. Nine Lives is another exciting development in the ever-evolving, genre-defying path of Gabrielle Ornate.
